Major difference

### Laravel monitoring without the extra Elastic setup.

Laritor gives your team direct Laravel application views through a Composer client. Start investigating recorded requests, queues, queries, and exceptions without deploying a native PHP monitoring extension or building a Kibana workspace.

- #### Simpler application installation

Laritor’s client does not need a native monitoring extension. Elastic’s current EDOT PHP setup installs an extension at the system level, with export and runtime configuration to maintain.

- #### Dedicated Laravel views ready to inspect

Laritor includes queue wait, backend sessions, Pennant, schedules, and custom event resources. Elastic’s general APM and Kibana workflows require adapting broader telemetry to these Laravel investigations.

- #### Managed monitoring without operating an Elastic stack

Laritor handles storage, retention, and backend capacity. Self-managed Elastic adds services and storage for your team to run; managed Elastic removes that backend work but keeps its wider platform setup.

Why choose Laritor over Elastic APM?

## See more of your Laravel app. Fix problems with better context.

Track exceptions and investigate the slow or failing work around them. Follow requests, queues, queries, API calls, user sessions, and feature flags through Laravel views your team can use every day.

Monthly USD before tax. Regional Complete rates checked October 10, 2026: ingestion starts at $0.50/GB and storage at $0.04/GB-month, with graduated volume tiers applied separately. Complete includes APM; Logs Essentials does not. Decimal GB and a 30-day month are explicit planning assumptions. Stored GB = monthly ingested GB × history days ÷ 30, assuming steady activity and a full history window. Vendor record counts and normalized sizes can differ. Separate or generated metrics, additional logs, AI/model usage, Agent Builder/workflow executions, synthetics, egress, cross-project search, upgraded support, self-hosted infrastructure, trials, and discounts are excluded. Confirm your billed units and complete data mix with Elastic. Estimates above its public estimator’s $10K limit extend published open-ended rate bands and require confirmation. Laritor includes 20M events for $20 plus $0.20 per started 100K. Strictly above $500 Laritor shows “Ask for a quote”; exactly $500 remains numeric. Elastic prices are not subject to that rule.

Questions before switching

## Elastic APM alternative FAQs.

### Is Laritor a good Elastic APM alternative for Laravel?

Laritor suits teams that want exceptions, issue detection, and performance monitoring through dedicated Laravel views. It includes recording presets, queue insights, backend sessions, Pennant, 85+ widgets, reports, and exception AI/MCP context. Elastic is worth considering for distributed services, OpenTelemetry pipelines, broad log analytics, Kubernetes, SLOs, or a self-managed backend.

[Compare the features](https://laritor.com/elastic-apm-alternative#feature-comparison) [#](https://laritor.com/elastic-apm-alternative#is-laritor-elastic-alternative)

### Does Elastic APM support current Laravel versions?

Yes. Current EDOT PHP documentation lists Laravel 6.x through 13.x and PHP 8.1 through 8.5. The older classic Elastic APM PHP agent has a different support matrix, so its Laravel 6 through 10 list should not be used to describe all Elastic options. Laravel native here means primarily designed for Laravel: Laritor has that focus, while Elastic serves many languages and frameworks.

[Explore Laravel setup](https://laritor.com/docs/installation) [#](https://laritor.com/elastic-apm-alternative#laravel-native)

### How does installation differ?

Laritor uses its Composer client, ingest configuration, and sync command. EDOT PHP installs a system package with a PHP extension, then uses OTLP configuration and a PHP process restart. It bundles framework instrumentation and injects it automatically without extra application Composer packages. Check supported runtime, platform, and long-running worker requirements.

[Review installation](https://laritor.com/docs/installation) [#](https://laritor.com/elastic-apm-alternative#php-extension)

### Can Elastic track Laravel exceptions and stack traces?

Yes. Elastic APM error data supports grouped errors, recorded stacks, and supplied user or custom context. What appears depends on the agent, instrumentation, and retained telemetry. Laritor connects configured exception details to the recorded request or job events through dedicated Laravel investigations.

[Explore exception tracking](https://laritor.com/exceptions) [#](https://laritor.com/elastic-apm-alternative#exceptions)

### Can I record only exceptions or detected issues?

Laritor offers exceptions-only, issues-only, and full observability modes. Matching Laravel executions include their configured related events. Elastic supports sampling and filtering, including tail-sampling configurations that depend on deployment and ingestion architecture. Those are different from Laritor’s ready-made Laravel presets. Retained data and represented activity depend on recording settings.

[Choose a recording mode](https://laritor.com/docs/customization#filtering) [#](https://laritor.com/elastic-apm-alternative#recording-modes)

### Can Elastic monitor Laravel queues and Artisan commands?

Yes. EDOT bundles upstream OpenTelemetry Laravel instrumentation with queue, worker, and Artisan hooks. Verify your package version, propagation, and long-running worker configuration. Laritor adds dedicated queue wait-time, throughput, payload, command-output, and schedule investigations. Equivalent ready-made Laravel resources for those details are not listed in the reviewed Elastic guides.

[Explore job monitoring](https://laritor.com/jobs) [#](https://laritor.com/elastic-apm-alternative#queues)

### How does the Elastic APM cost calculator work?

One retained execution count and average related-event count drive both estimates. Laritor bills related events with size increments. Elastic’s estimate converts that shared scenario and an editable normalized record size into GB, then prices ingestion and steady-state storage separately. Vendor records can differ; this is a planning model rather than a guarantee that every Laritor event equals one Elastic record.

[Calculate your workload](https://laritor.com/elastic-apm-alternative#cost-calculator) [#](https://laritor.com/elastic-apm-alternative#pricing-model)

### Which Elastic plan and region does the estimate use?

Elastic Observability Serverless Complete in AWS N. Virginia (us-east-1). Complete includes the APM experience; Logs Essentials does not. The reviewed regional table starts standard ingestion at $0.50/GB and retained data at $0.04/GB-month. Rates decrease across volume bands. The calculator uses those bands instead of applying advertised high-volume rates to small workloads. Other regions and contracts differ.

[Review the calculator](https://laritor.com/elastic-apm-alternative#cost-calculator) [#](https://laritor.com/elastic-apm-alternative#pricing-tiers)

### Why does retained history change the Elastic estimate?

Elastic charges for ingested data and retained storage separately. Assuming steady ingestion over a 30-day month, stored GB equals monthly ingestion times retention days divided by 30. This estimates a mature retention window, not a new project’s first month while history fills. Laritor includes 30-day recorded-event history, and the calculator starts Elastic at 30 days. Retention and record-size assumptions can be adjusted.

[Compare history costs](https://laritor.com/elastic-apm-alternative#cost-calculator) [#](https://laritor.com/elastic-apm-alternative#retention)

### Does the estimate include metrics, AI, support, or self-hosting?

No. It models standard trace/log ingestion and storage in one Complete project. TSDS metrics have separate reduced rates; generated metrics, additional logs, AI model usage, Agent Builder or workflow executions, synthetics, egress, cross-project search, upgraded support, taxes, discounts, and self-managed infrastructure are excluded. Measure the complete telemetry mix before estimating the whole bill.

[Read pricing assumptions](https://laritor.com/elastic-apm-alternative#cost-calculator) [#](https://laritor.com/elastic-apm-alternative#additional-costs)

### What happens when Laritor’s estimate exceeds $500?

Laritor shows Ask for a quote strictly above $500 per month. Exactly $500 remains numeric. Elastic’s published volume-tier estimate remains numeric even when it exceeds $500, because that quote rule applies only to Laritor. Confirm the relevant region, service configuration, and contract with Elastic.

### Can I self-host Elastic APM?

Yes. You can operate an Elastic Stack backend and ingestion pipeline yourself. That requires compute, storage, scaling, backups, upgrades, and operations. Licensing also differs across source, default distributions, and paid features; it is not a blanket MIT platform. The calculator models paid Observability Serverless, not a self-hosted deployment.

### Does Elastic have dashboards and server monitoring?

Yes. Kibana supports custom dashboards, and Elastic infrastructure integrations cover hosts, containers, Kubernetes, and cloud systems. Laritor has unlimited dashboards with 85+ Laravel widgets and optional CPU, memory, and disk collection. Laritor’s distinction is its ready-made Laravel application views.

### Do both tools offer AI and MCP?

Yes. Laritor offers in-app exception recommendations with supported provider choices and hosted read-only exception MCP. Elastic has Observability AI Assistant with LLM connectors and a native Agent Builder MCP endpoint for configured tools. Its access depends on API-key privileges, indices, and deployment. Elastic model usage and agent executions can have separate charges.

### How does Laritor help with sessions and feature flags?

Laritor provides backend Laravel session journeys, retained requests, configured session data, users, custom milestones, and automatic Pennant insights. Elastic accepts custom user, session, and feature attributes, but equivalent dedicated Laravel session-state and automatic Pennant resources are not listed. Laritor’s session journey is a backend investigation, not browser DOM replay.

### Can Elastic send scheduled performance PDFs?

Elastic Stack 9.3+ can schedule dashboard PDF and PNG reports, subject to deployment and permissions. Elastic Cloud Serverless currently schedules Discover CSV exports instead. Laritor includes customizable daily and weekly Laravel performance snapshots delivered by email and shareable as PDFs. It would be inaccurate to say every Elastic deployment lacks PDF reporting.

### How can I protect sensitive application data?

Laritor supports configurable redaction, exclusions, and optional content collection before ingestion. Elastic supports SDK configuration and telemetry processing to limit or remove sensitive fields; coverage depends on the agent and ingestion pipeline. Review URLs, SQL details, payloads, metadata, and the context supplied to AI for your actual setup.

### Can I run Elastic APM and Laritor in parallel?

Yes. Compare known exceptions and slow executions in a representative environment, verify alerts and privacy settings, and measure combined collection overhead. Check worker instrumentation, context propagation, and duplicate notifications. Keep access to your Elastic history while Laritor records new activity; an automatic history import is not documented.

About this comparison

## Sources and comparison notes.

Published by Laritor, independently of Elastic. Official EDOT PHP and classic agent guides, framework instrumentation, APM errors, sampling, service maps, infrastructure, logs, Kibana dashboards, reporting, AI, native MCP, feature tiers, billing dimensions, regional pricing, and licensing were reviewed on October 10, 2026.

“Laravel native” means primarily designed for Laravel. Elastic genuinely supports it: EDOT PHP lists Laravel 6.x through 13.x and PHP 8.1 through 8.5. Its system package installs a PHP extension and bundled instrumentation without additional application Composer packages. The classic PHP agent has a different support matrix. Queues and Artisan have upstream framework hooks; equivalent dedicated Laravel content and journey resources are not listed. Custom instrumentation can cover business activity.

The calculator models one shared execution/event scenario in Elastic Observability Serverless Complete, AWS N. Virginia (us-east-1), with Limited support. Complete includes APM; Logs Essentials does not. Current regional ingestion bands start at $0.50/GB and retention at $0.04/GB-month, then decrease with volume. The advertised “as low as” rates apply at high volumes. Each band is applied to its portion of usage.

Record size means enriched, normalized data before compression, not transmitted bytes or compressed index size. The estimate assumes decimal GB, a 30-day month, steady ingestion, and a fully populated retention window. Stored GB equals monthly ingested GB × retention days ÷ 30. Actual vendor records need not equal Laritor billable events, including its 2 KB increments. Use measured usage and confirm Elastic’s billed units for your setup; the steady-state estimate is not a first-month invoice.

Separate or generated metrics, additional logs, AI model usage, agent/workflow executions, synthetics, cross-project search, egress, upgraded support, self-managed infrastructure, taxes, promotional credits, and negotiated discounts are excluded. TSDS metrics have separate reduced ingestion/storage tiers. Elastic’s public estimator stops at $10K; its regional rate table has open-ended bands. Larger numeric estimates here extend those published bands for planning and need confirmation, rather than implying a service limit. Laritor strictly above $500 requires a quote; exactly $500 remains numeric.

Both tools offer custom dashboards, host metrics, business context, provider choices, AI, and MCP. Elastic’s native Agent Builder MCP tools operate with configured API-key privileges and index scope. Laritor MCP supplies read-only exception context. Elastic Stack 9.3+ schedules dashboard PDFs; Serverless schedules Discover CSV exports. Self-managed Elastic transfers storage and operations to your team, with licensing that differs between free source portions, default distributions, and paid features.
