Major difference

### Less PHP setup. More Laravel-specific insight.

Laritor combines an extension-free Composer client with dedicated Laravel investigation views. Understand recorded requests, background work, and user journeys without adding an OpenTelemetry PHP extension to your runtime.

- #### No monitoring extension required

Laritor sends application events through its Composer client. AppSignal’s current PHP integration requires its package and the OpenTelemetry PHP extension, adding a runtime dependency to deploy.

- #### See more Laravel-specific behavior

Laritor adds dedicated backend session journeys, Pennant analytics, queue wait views, and configured API content investigation. Equivalent dedicated resources are not listed in the reviewed AppSignal documentation.

- #### Tailor dashboards and performance reports

Build with 85+ Laravel widgets and email custom daily or weekly performance PDFs. AppSignal has dashboards, but the same Laravel widget library and custom scheduled PDF workflow are not listed.

Why choose Laritor over AppSignal?

## See more of your Laravel app. Fix problems with better context.

Inspect the data behind a problem, follow backend sessions, review Pennant flags, debug with in-app AI, and receive custom PDF performance reports.

Application monitoring with a single event allowance

### All Laritor features. $20/month.

20M billable events, unlimited apps and users, and 30-day retention. Choose exceptions, detected issues, or all activity without a separate error or log quota.

[Compare your usage](https://laritor.com/appsignal-alternative#cost-calculator)

Laritor bills for recorded events. AppSignal bills for request capacity with a separate logging allowance. Compare the same execution workload below; the two products count different units.

Cost calculator

### Compare the same application workload.

Use one execution count for both tools. Laritor bills recorded events; AppSignal bills request capacity and a separate log allowance.

Laritor / month**$20.00**USD · Unlimited apps and users · 30-day retention

20,000,000 billable events

AppSignal / month**$39.00**USD · Monthly billing · 30-day trace/log retention

1M request capacity · 1 GB log capacity

Paid application request capacity

$39.00

Additional log capacity

$0.00

This selects paid capacity for sustained usage, rather than predicting a temporary spike’s bill. AppSignal uses a relaxed upgrade policy with notice; it does not automatically bill per-request burst overages. Unlimited apps, users, and dashboards are included in both products.

AppSignal’s published monthly USD paid tiers start at $25 for 250K requests, $39 for 1M, and $69 for 3M. The calculator picks the smallest reviewed tier that fits, up to 750M requests at $1,299. Log capacity includes 1 GB and uses separate tiers above that, starting at $10 for 10 GB. Above 750M requests or 1,000 GB logs, ask AppSignal for a quote; no unpublished tier is extrapolated. Paid trace detail retention is at least 30 days, 45 days at 25M requests, and 60 days at 50M and higher; logs have 30-day retention. Laritor includes 30-day event retention. Shared executions are a comparison scenario, not identical telemetry coverage. AppSignal samples representative traces while request metrics still contribute to usage. Include recorded Laritor logs and their size increments in average events per run. The AppSignal log input specifies capacity, not an event-to-byte conversion. Annual discounts, free plans, trials, optional business add-ons, and taxes are excluded. Laritor adds $0.20 per started 100K events above 20M and shows “Ask for a quote” above $500.

Questions before switching

## AppSignal alternative FAQs.

### Is Laritor a good AppSignal alternative for Laravel?

Laritor is a strong fit for Laravel teams that want exception tracking, issue tracking, and performance monitoring with dedicated request, job, query, session, and Pennant views. AppSignal covers more languages and adds external uptime, public status pages, process heartbeats, and wider operational MCP tools. Compare the workflows and actual recording volume your team needs.

[Compare the features](https://laritor.com/appsignal-alternative#feature-comparison) [#](https://laritor.com/appsignal-alternative#is-laritor-appsignal-alternative)

### Is AppSignal Laravel native?

AppSignal supports Laravel auto-instrumentation through its PHP package, but it is a monitoring product for many languages. Laritor is designed primarily for Laravel. Here, Laravel native describes the product’s primary focus rather than whether it supports the framework.

[Explore Laritor installation](https://laritor.com/docs/installation) [#](https://laritor.com/appsignal-alternative#laravel-native)

### Can I monitor only Laravel exceptions or detected issues?

Yes. Laritor offers exceptions-only, issues-only, and full observability recording filters. Retained requests, jobs, and commands include their related configured events. AppSignal keeps representative trace samples and provides capture/filter controls, but equivalent Laravel exception/issue execution recording presets are not listed in the reviewed documentation.

[Choose a recording mode](https://laritor.com/docs/customization#filtering) [#](https://laritor.com/appsignal-alternative#exceptions-only)

### How does Laritor pricing compare with AppSignal?

Laritor costs $20/month for 20M billable events, then $0.20 per started 100K additional events. AppSignal’s monthly USD paid application tiers start at $25 for 250K requests and $39 for 1M requests, with a separate log allowance. Both include unlimited apps and users. The calculator selects paid capacity for one shared execution workload, rather than claiming one Laritor event equals one AppSignal request.

[Calculate your workload](https://laritor.com/appsignal-alternative#cost-calculator) [#](https://laritor.com/appsignal-alternative#pricing-difference)

### Does AppSignal bill for every event inside a request?

Its published usage guide counts incoming requests and background jobs. A request can contain performance and error metrics while remaining one request. Laritor instead counts recorded events in 2 KB billing increments. The calculator uses the same execution count: AppSignal capacity follows that count, while Laritor events equal executions multiplied by average billable events per run. Instrumented command runs are modeled as one execution each; confirm actual reported usage.

[Understand Laritor event billing](https://laritor.com/docs/events) [#](https://laritor.com/appsignal-alternative#events-and-requests)

### Does the calculator include AppSignal logging?

Yes. Enter the AppSignal log capacity you need in GB. Its plans include 1 GB, with separate paid capacity tiers above that. Laritor’s recorded log events belong in the average-events-per-run input, including their 2 KB billing increments. Log capacity cannot be inferred from execution count alone. The estimate excludes optional business add-ons, taxes, and annual discounts.

[Compare request and log capacity](https://laritor.com/appsignal-alternative#cost-calculator) [#](https://laritor.com/appsignal-alternative#log-pricing)

### What happens when a calculated price needs a custom quote?

Laritor shows Ask for a quote only above $500/month; exactly $500 remains numeric. AppSignal shows Ask for a quote when usage exceeds the largest numeric capacity reviewed, 750M requests or 1,000 GB of log capacity. The calculator does not extrapolate unpublished tiers.

[Contact Laritor support](https://laritor.com/docs/support) [#](https://laritor.com/appsignal-alternative#laritor-custom-quote)

### Will a traffic spike automatically add AppSignal overage charges?

AppSignal’s paid plans use a relaxed upgrade policy instead of automatic per-request overage fees. Its usage guide describes notice when usage exceeds an allowance by more than 10% for at least two of the last three months. The calculator selects the smallest published capacity that fits sustained usage; it is not a forecast of the bill for a temporary spike.

[Read the calculator assumptions](https://laritor.com/appsignal-alternative#sources) [#](https://laritor.com/appsignal-alternative#appsignal-upgrade-policy)

### Do Laritor and AppSignal both work with AI coding agents?

Yes. Laritor MCP provides read-only exception and retained execution context, and Laritor also has in-app recommendations with supported provider choices. AppSignal’s hosted MCP exposes errors, traces, logs, metrics, and other operational data, with permission-controlled incident and dashboard actions. AppSignal MCP uses your chosen AI tool; it is not limited to a single model provider.

[Read the Laritor MCP guide](https://laritor.com/docs/integrations/mcp-server) [#](https://laritor.com/appsignal-alternative#ai-and-mcp)

### Can AppSignal monitor background jobs and scheduled tasks?

Yes. AppSignal supports background monitoring and configured cron/heartbeat process monitors, including individual occurrences and missing/late completion alerts. Coverage depends on instrumentation and monitor setup. Laritor adds dedicated Laravel job payloads, queue wait-time and throughput views, scheduled execution context, and command output. Do not treat general process monitoring as identical to automatic Laravel resource collection.

[Explore Laravel job monitoring](https://laritor.com/jobs) [#](https://laritor.com/appsignal-alternative#queues-and-schedules)

### Can Laritor monitor Laravel Pennant feature flags?

Yes. Laritor records Pennant evaluations and provides activation, timing, and related error insights. AppSignal custom spans, attributes, and metrics can record flag state, but an equivalent automatic Pennant resource is not listed in the reviewed guides. Laritor observes your existing flags rather than managing rollout rules.

[Explore Pennant insights](https://laritor.com/feature-flags) [#](https://laritor.com/appsignal-alternative#feature-flags)

### Do both products offer custom dashboards and PDF reports?

Both offer customizable dashboards and unlimited user access. Laritor has 85+ Laravel widgets and daily/weekly PDF email reports. AppSignal supports custom metric dashboards and shareable views. Equivalent built-in scheduled PDF delivery is not listed in the reviewed dashboard documentation; custom automation may meet that need.

[Explore PDF reports](https://laritor.com/docs/reports) [#](https://laritor.com/appsignal-alternative#dashboards-and-reports)

### How do Laravel session journeys differ from AppSignal browser monitoring?

Laritor follows retained backend requests in a Laravel session, with users and custom events. AppSignal supports request session metadata and has a Labs beta browser SDK for JavaScript errors, breadcrumbs, and web vitals. These browser signals and backend session journeys answer different questions. Neither is described here as visual screen replay.

[Explore backend session journeys](https://laritor.com/sessions) [#](https://laritor.com/appsignal-alternative#sessions-and-browser)

### Can I protect sensitive data before sending it to Laritor?

Yes. Configure client-side redaction, resource settings, recording filters, and sampling. Review headers, payloads, responses, logs, and custom metadata before enabling collection. AppSignal also documents PHP filters for attributes, payloads, parameters, headers, and session data, and asks you to sanitize personal data before sending it. Both tools need appropriate collection settings.

[Configure privacy controls](https://laritor.com/docs/customization) [#](https://laritor.com/appsignal-alternative#sensitive-data)

Official pricing and usage policies, PHP/Laravel installation and configuration, custom context, logs, dashboards, process and uptime checks, browser monitoring, distributed tracing, privacy filters, and MCP documentation were reviewed on October 9, 2026. Availability depends on SDK versions, instrumentation packages, collection setup, permissions, and beta access.

“Laravel native” means primarily designed for Laravel. AppSignal supports the framework within a multi-language product. “Not listed” describes an equivalent dedicated resource not found in the reviewed guides; custom spans, metrics, logs, or integrations may cover the need. AppSignal supports request payloads and session metadata. Laritor’s advantage is its dedicated Laravel resource workflow, including response content, Pennant, backend session journeys, and scheduled PDF reports. Both products provide custom dashboards, unlimited apps and users, privacy controls, and MCP.

The calculator selects the smallest reviewed paid monthly USD request and log capacities that fit sustained usage. It starts with a paid plan, excluding AppSignal’s free plan and both trials. One shared execution count drives AppSignal request capacity; multiplying that count by average billable events drives Laritor usage. Child events do not become separate AppSignal requests in this model. Instrumented command runs are assumed to count as one execution; verify actual reported usage. Log capacity is a separate editable assumption, while Laritor’s recorded logs belong in its event estimate. AppSignal’s paid-plan upgrade policy handles temporary bursts differently from this capacity-planning estimate. Annual discounts, business add-ons, taxes, and different collection rules are excluded. Above the largest reviewed numeric tiers, AppSignal shows a quote rather than an extrapolated price. Costs and coverage depend on the activity each tool actually receives.
